This 90-minute course will cover:
Lite-Tech AAC Essentials

We will start by reviewing the different types of lite-tech AAC and how lite-tech AAC fits into a child's AAC system. We'll discuss benefits, limitations, options for resource creation, vocabulary selection, and how to pick the best symbols for each child.

AAC templates
Customizable Lite-Tech AAC Resources


The make-and-take portion of the course will walk you through how to customize the provided templates in order to create three unique lite-tech resources you can start using right away in your therapy sessions.


(30 minutes)

Step-By-Step Guide to Implementation

To conclude, we will provide a step-by-step guide to implementing lite-tech AAC with toddlers and preschoolers. You'll learn how to use AAC as a tool to support your communication goals and how to integrate AAC into play and daily routines.


(25 minutes followed by a 10-minute Q&A session)

Lauren Greenlief, MA, CCC-SLP

Lauren is a speech pathologist with over 10 years of experience specializing in AAC. She received a Master's Certificate in Assistive Technology in 2018. She owns and operates the private practice Inspire Connections Therapy LLC, located in Twinsburg, Ohio and contracts with the state early intervention program. Her practice focuses on all things AAC and early language skills. Lauren is a paid speaker and has presented for conferences and workplaces on AAC topics.

Laura Brown, MA, CCC-SLP


Laura Brown is a pediatric speech pathologist and early intervention specialist with 15 years of clinical experience as a pediatric SLP. She previously worked as a contractor to provide state-based early intervention services and currently owns a private practice in Ohio working exclusively with children under four. Laura is the founder of Early & Bright Online Learning.

  2. Identify three advantages and one limitation for using lite-tech AAC.
  3. Create and customize three types of lite-tech AAC resources that can be implemented with children on your therapy caseload. 
  4. List three implementation strategies for lite-tech AAC. 

Requirements for Satisfactory Completion


Students must do the following to earn a certificate for professional development:

  • submit confirmation of attendance via a link shared at the end of the live course. 
  • score 90% or higher on the course completion quiz. This 10-question quiz is untimed and can be taken as many times as needed.
